Cooking Oil Prices Rise Nationwide

Cooking oil prices have surged sharply across Pakistan, adding to the burden on households already grappling with elevated living costs.

Recent market data indicate that cooking oil prices have risen by up to Rs. 60 per litre over the past week, taking the retail rate to around Rs. 550 per litre. Retailers say the product was previously selling at approximately Rs. 490 per litre, but supply shortages have driven prices higher.

The fresh increase has further strained consumers, many of whom are struggling to manage expenses amid persistent inflation in essential commodities.

Flour prices have also moved upward. A 5-kg bag of flour is now being sold for around Rs. 900, noticeably higher than some competing brands in the market.

The latest rise in food staples reflects broader inflationary pressures in the country, where increasing prices of necessities continue to weigh heavily on household budgets.
