MIANWALI, Pakistan – In a significant counter-terrorism breakthrough, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) foiled a major terror plot near Rahmani Khel Mor in Mianwali, killing three militants in a fierce gun battle, officials confirmed on Thursday.
Acting on precise intelligence reports, CTD teams launched an operation targeting a group of terrorists allegedly preparing large-scale attacks on police check-posts across the region. As the law enforcement personnel closed in, they were met with intense gunfire, triggering a heavy exchange.
According to CTD sources, the three slain terrorists were reportedly gunned down by friendly fire from within their own ranks during the clash. Despite the successful neutralization of these threats, six heavily armed suspects managed to escape, prompting authorities to launch a full-scale search and sweep operation.

Security forces recovered assault rifles, hand grenades, live ammunition, and explosive materials from the site, preventing what could have been a devastating coordinated attack on police outposts in Mianwali.
In response to the threat, the CTD has set up checkpoints and increased surveillance in and around Rahmani Khel Mor. Search operations are currently underway, with security tightened across sensitive zones to prevent any further terrorist movement.
Officials confirm that the eliminated terror cell had finalized its plans for simultaneous attacks on police facilities, underscoring the urgency and success of the operation.
