A key militant commander was killed in an intelligence-based counter-terrorism operation carried out by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Lakki Marwat district.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the slain militant, identified as Barkat, was a commander linked to several terrorist groups and played a leading role in militant activities in the area. He was wanted by law enforcement agencies in multiple cases, including attacks on security forces.

The operation was conducted in the outskirts of the Wanda Amir Khan area of Lakki Marwat. CTD officials said the action was launched following credible intelligence about the militants’ presence in the area.

Police confirmed that members of local peace committees also assisted law enforcement personnel during the operation, helping secure the area and prevent the escape of suspects.

Authorities described the operation as a major success, saying the killing of Barkat has dealt a significant blow to militant networks operating in the region. Security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the site.

Officials reiterated that intelligence-based operations against terrorists would continue to ensure lasting peace and security in the area.
