Dar Challenges FBR to Hit Tax Collection of Rs. 10 Trillion
In contrast to the allocated revenue collection target of Rs 9.4 trillion for the year, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has issued a new challenge to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to collect Rs 10 trillion in the fiscal year 2023–24 (FY24).
On Wednesday, the minister paid a visit to FBR (HQs) and offered congratulations to Malik Amjad Zubair Tiwana on his appointment as Chairman. The minister also expressed confidence that Tiwana will work hard to meet the income goal for FY24.

The FBR team was commended by the finance minister for exceeding the Rs. 539 billion income target set for July 2023. He further exhorted the FBR team to work hard and help taxpayers as much as possible.
“I don’t want to terrify the incoming FBR Chairman, but the FBR should aim to exceed its Rs 9,400 billion target for 2023–24 by Rs 10,000 billion. The FBR should accomplish the five-digit target under the direction of the incoming FBR Chairman and develop a plan to do so. The FBR staff is well capable of achieving the set goal while also aiming for Rs 10,000 billion, according to Dar.
The finance minister noted that the FBR has the ability to reach the target of Rs 10,000 billion with the aid of enforcement measures, plugging leaks, and expanding the tax base.
