Apple’s new iPhone 17 series has launched to strong sales and positive reviews, but some early buyers are raising concerns about durability.
According to reports, certain color variants — particularly the Deep Blue iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max and the Space Black iPhone Air — appear more prone to scratching than expected.
Visible Marks in Days
Bloomberg reported that several owners noticed visible scratches within days of use, especially on the glass panel beneath the camera block. Photos circulating online also show marks on the camera housing.
A viral post on X by user @amisecured brought the issue into the spotlight, triggering debate among customers who had just received their devices.
Dark Colors More Susceptible
Feedback suggests darker finishes show scratches more easily, while lighter shades in the lineup appear to resist or conceal marks better.
Adding to frustration, some users report that MagSafe accessories have left noticeable wear even during normal use.
Cosmetic, Not Critical
So far, the scratches seem to be cosmetic and do not affect device performance. Experts note that the issue may only impact a limited number of units, though the extent is still unclear.
Even so, they advise buyers — especially those opting for darker colors — to use a protective case or skin to minimize wear on their premium devices.
