Difference in Intermediate Admission Fees Causes Confusion

Due to the glaringly disparate admission fees, first-year intermediate student admissions across several colleges in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) have drawn attention as the new academic year picks up steam.

Numerous colleges operating under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) charge various admission costs for the same academic programmes, which causes confusion and begs the question of why there are differences.

Islamabad Model Postgraduate College (IMPC) H-8 charges Rs. 8,920 for first-year humanities group tuition, while Islamabad College for Boys (ICB) G-6/3 charges Rs. 8,220. For admissions in the same subject group, Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) F-7/4 and Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB) H-9 both charge Rs. 7,720.

There are differences in other academic fields as well. Similar trends can be seen in the commerce group, where the fees are set at Rs. 8,200 for IMPC H-8, Rs. 7,720 for IMCB H-9, Rs. 8,220 for ICB G-6/3, and Rs. 8,260 for Islamabad Model Postgraduate College of Commerce H-8/4.

Islamabad College for Boys (ICB) G-6/3 in the pre-engineering group charges an admission fee of Rs. 8,700, while Islamabad Model Postgraduate College (IMPC) H-8 charges Rs. 8,680 for the same programme.

The cost is the same as Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) F-7/4 and Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB) H-9, but IMCG F-7/2 charges Rs. 8,660 for first-year pre-engineering students.

IMCB H-9 and IMCG F-7/4 both request Rs. 8,440 from the pre-medical group, while IMPC H-8 and IMCG F-7/2 want Rs. 8,920 and ICB G-6/3 charges Rs. 8,700. These differences in fee demands are also present for the pre-medical group.

A worried parent named Muhammad Ismail expressed his displeasure by saying,

All of the colleges are federally funded public institutions that fall under the same FDE department, yet their fee structures differ, which is absurd and leaves the public with a negative impression.

Ismail pleaded with the authorities to guarantee consistency in the pricing schedules for all colleges covered by the FDE.
