Saber Interactive has officially revealed Turok: Origins at Gamescom 2025, reviving the beloved dinosaur-hunting series that first made its mark on the Nintendo 64 in the 1990s.
The reboot mixes single-player and multiplayer action, combining survival against dinosaurs and alien enemies with modern cinematic gameplay.
Reviving a classic
Turok began as a comic book hero in the 1950s before becoming a gaming icon in the late ’90s. The first two N64 titles were praised for their unique prehistoric settings and fast-paced combat, but the franchise stalled after a poorly received 2008 reboot.
Now, Saber — the studio behind recent revivals like Evil Dead and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine — is taking on the challenge of restoring the series’ legacy.
Dinosaurs meet aliens
Studio head Jesus Iglesias revealed that Universal Studios approached Saber in 2020 to reimagine the franchise. The result is Turok: Origins, a third-person shooter that draws inspiration from both Jurassic Park and Predator.
“We are being respectful with the originals, especially Turok 1 and Turok 2, and also adding elements that make the universe more consistent,” Iglesias said.
Built for today’s players
At its peak, more than 250 developers worked on the game. It promises fluid movement, cinematic battles, and cooperative multiplayer, while staying true to the spirit of the originals.
Although no release date has been set, Turok: Origins is confirmed for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC — marking the long-awaited return of one of gaming’s most iconic dinosaur-hunting adventures.
