President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States has effectively taken on the role of the United Nations, saying his administration helped bring an end to eight wars within 11 months.
In a statement shared on social media, President Trump welcomed the ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia, expressing satisfaction that fighting between the two countries had stopped. He said he hoped both nations would now move forward in peace following the agreement.
Trump congratulated the leadership of Thailand and Cambodia, saying they made a swift and fair decision in the interest of peace. He added that the United States was proud of its role in helping facilitate the ceasefire.
Highlighting what he described as diplomatic successes, Trump said that eight wars had been halted in just 11 months. He claimed that, through these efforts, the United States had become the “real United Nations.”
The US president also criticised the international community’s handling of other global conflicts. He said no meaningful progress had been made in resolving the Russia-Ukraine war and argued that the United Nations should play a more active role in promoting global peace and stability.
