The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested six suspects and seized more than 520 kilograms of narcotics worth an estimated Rs. 27.9 million during seven operations carried out near educational institutions and in several cities, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.
In operations targeting drug peddling around schools and universities, authorities recovered 3.6 kilograms of hashish from a suspect near Rehmaniya Phatak in Gujrat. Another suspect was arrested near a university on Hattar Road in Haripur with 300 grams of hashish.
An ANF spokesperson said the suspects admitted during initial interrogation that they had been supplying narcotics to students at educational institutions.
In another operation, officials intercepted a container at Karachi Port that was bound for Saudi Arabia and recovered 347,500 Tramadol tablets weighing 240 kilograms, along with 49,800 Nexus tablets weighing 18.15 kilograms.
At a courier office in Islamabad, authorities seized 7.01 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as ice, concealed inside cushion covers in a parcel destined for New Zealand.
Further operations resulted in the recovery of 107.4 kilograms of hashish from a vehicle near Jabal Noor Bus Terminal in Quetta, leading to one arrest. Another 60 kilograms of hashish were seized from a vehicle near Lak Pass in Mastung, where two suspects were detained. Authorities also recovered 84 kilograms of hashish from a vehicle intercepted near Ravi Toll Plaza in Lahore, resulting in another arrest.
Cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997, and investigations are ongoing, the spokesperson added.
