The Punjab government has started a new project to tackle air pollution and provide employment opportunities for the unemployed. The strategy calls for the launch of an e-taxi service, which would offer electric cars to online taxi drivers at competitive prices. This program seeks to lower emissions while providing drivers with cash incentives.

According to information provided by Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, many online taxis would be replaced with electric cars (EVs). Drivers can purchase these EVs with a down payment or simple installment options, making engagement easier.
In addition to reducing harmful emissions, Minister Khan stressed that switching to electric taxis will benefit drivers financially and reduce harmful emissions. Studies show that drivers who switch to electric vehicles could save up to 40% on gasoline expenses.
This initiative originated in response to Punjab’s growing need for online taxi services and to reduce the growing pollution in cities, especially Lahore.
A few advantages of switching to electric taxis are a cleaner environment, cheaper fuel prices, and improved economic opportunities for drivers. Furthermore, the program is anticipated to provide many employment possibilities for the jobless.
