The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has issued a formal notification imposing strict restrictions on political activities and social media use by government employees.

According to the guidelines, all government employees are barred from taking part in political rallies, processions, sit-ins, or any political gatherings. They are also prohibited from using their official position, authority, or government status to influence political opinions or activities.

The department has made it clear that government employees are not allowed to engage in political promotion, support, or opposition on social media platforms. This restriction applies even to personal social media accounts, and includes posts, comments, shares, likes, or any other form of political expression.

The notification warns that any employee found violating these instructions will face departmental action. Disciplinary proceedings will be carried out under existing rules and regulations, which may include penalties or other administrative measures.

The move aims to ensure political neutrality within government institutions and maintain discipline and professionalism among public servants.
