Education to Differently-abled Children in Islamabad
Islamabad witnessed the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Ministry of Human Rights, the Directorate General of Special Education, and the Private Education Institutions Regulatory Authority (Peira) about inclusive education for children with special needs.

The Education Minister, Shafqat Mahmood, stated that the project will assist parents who were unable to enroll their children with mild or moderate disabilities.
According to the Ministry of Human Rights, the project was intended to be carried out in collaboration with the Federal Directorate of Education and the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (Peira) in order to introduce the system of right-based inclusion for differently-abled children for their mainstreaming in the normal schools of 50 union councils.

Advisory workshops and seminars will be organised. Under the FDE, about 5,000 students with special needs would be registered/enrolled and 250 regular school instructors would receive training.
The primary objective of the initiative is to achieve the integration of children with special needs into public and private schools. Other goals included raising awareness and educating the local community in addition to providing accommodations for children with impairments.
