Eight militants were killed during a police operation in the Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after a prolonged exchange of fire, officials confirmed on Sunday.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Abbas Majeed Marwat said the operation was launched after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants in the area. Police units moved in and came under fire, leading to several hours of intense clashes.
According to the RPO, eight militants were killed in the operation, while there were reports that several others sustained injuries and managed to flee. Security forces also destroyed multiple militant hideouts located in the surrounding hilly terrain.
Police said the operation was carried out to eliminate militant networks and restore peace in the area. A search and clearance operation is continuing to ensure no remaining militants are present in the region.
