EPA Goes Through New Measures to Improve Air Quality in Lahore
Lahore’s Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has implemented a new measure to improve the Air Quality Index (AQI). This will reduce the amount of air quality improvement in the city by up to 25 percent.

According to the sources, the Punjab government’s measures to lower the metropolitan AQI will be ineffective. The inability of the EPA to shut down polluting industries was one of the reasons for these minimal attempts. At night, the subpar fuel was used to power their factories. Continual construction projects in diverse city neighborhoods are the second cause. There is some high traffic, but no harsh measures have been implemented against autos that emit smoke.

EPA spokesperson Dr. Amir Farooq acknowledged that the numbers presented to the media are erroneous. To ensure declining AQI results, the agency has decided to deploy a new mechanism. In addition, he added that the agency lacks the resources to audit every business that runs at night in the city. The Punjabi government requested that the police, district administrations, and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) execute anti-pollution operations against polluting businesses.
