The Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) has released its attendance report for the 22nd session of the National Assembly, highlighting low participation by lawmakers during the proceedings held from November 27 to December 10, 2025.

According to the report, the session consisted of seven sittings, but attendance remained weak throughout. A total of 299 members of the National Assembly missed at least one sitting, raising concerns about parliamentary engagement and accountability.

Only 34 lawmakers were present in all seven sittings, while 50 members did not attend a single sitting during the entire session. Attendance varied significantly from day to day. The sixth sitting recorded the highest turnout, with 61 percent of members present. In contrast, the fifth sitting saw the lowest attendance, with just 35 percent participation.

FAFEN noted that three sittings ended without addressing the scheduled agenda because the required quorum was not met. This lack of attendance directly affected parliamentary business and delayed discussions on important national matters.

The report also highlighted poor attendance among cabinet members. Only two federal ministers attended all sittings, while eight federal ministers did not attend any sitting at all. FAFEN further noted that the prime minister did not attend any part of the session.

FAFEN said the findings reflect a continuing pattern of low attendance in parliamentary sessions and stressed the need for stronger commitment by elected representatives to fulfill their legislative responsibilities. The organization emphasized that regular participation is essential for effective lawmaking, oversight, and democratic governance.
