Fair Price Shops Being Set Up Across KP to Mitigate Sugar Issue
The district administrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province are building fair-priced stores in Peshawar in an effort to reduce the high cost and provide a steady supply of sugar.
According to available information, the government has subsidized 118 metric tons of sugar for the Abbottabad district. The district administration has set up 13 sales locations in Abbottabad, four in tehsil Havelian, two in Lora, and three in Galiyat, where the general populace can get sugar for Rs 90 per kilogram.
The revenue personnel would oversee the sale and distribution of sugar at controlled prices in their individual fair-pricing stores. The deputy commissioner instructed the populace to purchase sugar from the nearest fair-priced store and promptly notify the district control room, created in the DC office, in the event of a disparity.

The wholesale price of subsidized sugar would be Rs 86 per kilogram, while the retail price for the general population would be Rs 90 per kilogram.
Citizens will be permitted to obtain up to 5 kg of sugar by presenting their ID card, whereas merchants are required to maintain customer records so that citizens can receive government subsidies and complaints can be handled on the spot.
