Fatima Sana Shaikh, an Indian actress, has once again expressed her concerns on the unfair treatment of supporting actors in the Indian film business, drawing attention to the pervasive problems of nepotism and unfair treatment on movie sets.
The Dangal actress recently spoke candidly about the power dynamics that exist in the entertainment industry, claiming that people without prominent positions or powerful connections are frequently viewed as “second-class human beings.”
You’re frequently made to feel inferior when you’re not the hero. “Character artists like myself are kept on the sidelines, while main actors are given all the attention,” she said bluntly.
Fatima, who has already criticized Bollywood’s hierarchical structure, reaffirmed how she was marginalized despite making a substantial contribution to movies.
I have personally witnessed the glaring disparity in how we are treated. “It’s absolutely true—nepotism is the foundation of this industry,” she said.
The actress reaffirmed her commitment to treating all actors with respect, irrespective of their position. “I make a special effort to show respect to new actors while they are on site. I don’t want them to experience what I did. “There’s no justification for disparaging someone based on their status,” she continued.
In a lighthearted section of the interview, Fatima was asked if any of her co-stars had ever said something improper or stupid. She replied that although she hadn’t heard any direct criticism, she had collaborated with performers who attempted to overshadow others. Even when a scenario isn’t about them, some people want to be the focal point of it. That truly kills the scene’s vitality and saps the essence of the occasion,” she remarked.
Fatima further emphasized that such conduct is discouraging to other actors who are also attempting to bring their characters to life, in addition to being unprofessional. It irritates me. Step aside when you aren’t supposed to be the center of attention.
A Path from Young Artist to Celebrated Performer
As a child performer, Fatima Sana Shaikh made her acting debut in movies such as Ishq and Chachi 420. Although she made her acting debut in 2008 with Tihaan, it was the 2016 hit Dangal that catapulted her into the spotlight.
In the film, she portrayed the role of wrestler Geeta Phogat alongside Aamir Khan, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim, and the late Suhani Bhatnagar.
Currently, the actress is preparing for a slate of upcoming releases, including Metro In Dino, Gustaakh Ishq, and Aap Jesa Koi Nahi.
