FBR Announces Incentive Scheme for Timely Tax Probes
Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced an incentive program to encourage the prompt completion and submission of inquiry reports by its staff.
Under the incentive program, the authorized officer will get up to two basic salaries for delivering the investigation report within 60 days of receiving the letter appointing the inquiry officer.
The FBR decided on the incentive after noting that the majority of inquiry and authorized officers were delaying the completion of investigations, so delaying the end of disciplinary actions against FBR officials.
In this regard, the FBR stated that the Internal Job Posting (IJP) allowance of inquiry officers, inquiry committee members, fact-finding inquiry officers, and fact-finding inquiry committee members will be terminated if the investigation takes more than 100 days to complete.

The same shall apply to authorized officers who take more than 40 days to reach a decision on an investigation, and in the event of proceedings against officers up to BS-16, to the authority who takes more than 40 days to carry out the required action.
The FBR stated that any reason, including requests for delay, non-availability of record, etc., will not be accepted, and time will only be suspended if a court of competent jurisdiction issues a legitimate stay order.
