The top intelligence unit of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has discovered billion-dollar sales tax fraud in key industries such as scrap, coal, oil and ghee, textiles, paper and board, steel, lead, and lead waste.
Over the course of the four months of May–August 2023, the Directorate General Intelligence and Investigation Inland Revenue (l&I-IR) has discovered unlawful adjustments of input tax totaling about Rs. 70 billion. More than thirty people who were involved in tax fraud have been arrested as a result of the action taken in all of the nation’s major cities.
