FBR, World Bank Approve to Improve Cooperation
Asim Ahmad, the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and Najy Benhassine, the country director for Pakistan for the World Bank, have agreed to expand their existing bilateral cooperation.

The World Bank’s $400 million “Pakistan Raises Revenue” programme, which aims to mobilise domestic resources through the automation of tax collecting operations and simplification of tax compliance procedures, was discussed in a meeting between the two chiefs.
Ten Disbursement Related Indicators were covered in the FBR chairman’s update on the reform agenda’s status (DLIs).
He also expressed worries about the challenges that come up when putting reform interventions into practise, including as issues with data sharing with the provinces and the Sindh High Court’s decision to halt the track and trace procedure.

The FBR is on pace to complete the majority of the DLIs and has made significant strides towards automating crucial business operations and signing memorandums of understanding for the exchange of data with other authorities.
Benhassine promised to check into Ahmad’s concerns on issues outside the purview of FBR’s administrative power.
