Apple has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its new Hypertension Notification feature, which will now be available on Apple Watch devices starting next week. The update will roll out in more than 150 countries, including the United States, as part of watchOS 26.

The Hypertension Notification feature is designed to detect potential signs of high blood pressure using an optical sensor and machine learning. When unusual blood pressure patterns are identified, the Apple Watch will send alerts, urging users to consult with a doctor for proper medical evaluation.

Apple first introduced the feature during the launch of Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch SE 3. However, it will also be supported on earlier models, including Apple Watch Series 9 or later and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, expanding access to millions of users worldwide.

The feature was initially delayed due to pending FDA clearance, but with approval now granted, Apple is ready to release it alongside its newest smartwatch lineup.

With this update, Apple strengthens its position in the field of digital health technology. Since hypertension is one of the leading global health concerns, the feature could help users detect early warning signs and take preventive steps toward better heart health.
