The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced that all educational institutions under its administrative control will remain closed from March 16 to March 31, 2026, as part of fuel conservation and austerity measures.
According to a notification issued by the FDE’s Academics Wing, the decision has been taken following instructions from the Cabinet Division issued on March 9, 2026, regarding the implementation of fuel-saving measures.
The notification states that all schools, colleges, and other institutions operating under the FDE will remain closed during this period. However, examination-related activities will continue as scheduled.
These activities include the conduct of examinations, checking of answer sheets, and preparation of results. The notification also stated that classes for BS programs will immediately shift to a fully online mode and will continue in this format until further instructions.
In addition, heads of institutions have been directed to implement work-from-home arrangements for up to 50 percent of administrative staff on alternate days, while ensuring that essential administrative work continues without disruption.
