FGEHA Determined to Improve Delivery Services, Restriction Losses
Islamabad: The Ministry of Housing and Works reportedly informed the Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works on January 10 that the National Construction Limited (NCL) and Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) will shortly be amalgamated. As part of the institutional changes, it was decided to strengthen the service delivery of government organizations while decreasing the losses of the ministry.

According to our sources, the Institutional Reform Committee (IRC) and the Ministry of Housing and Works advocated the merger. The administration has already completed all legislative conditions for the merging of NCL and FGEHA, the committee was informed. The FGEHA Executive Board is considering approval of the matter.
Due to the limited number of projects and other administrative obstacles, it was also disclosed that NGL is suffering losses of millions of rupees for the government. After the merger, it was promised that the out-of-control spending and losses would be minimized.

During the meeting, the committee also examined unlawful structures and inhabitants in Sector G-14/1, and it requested the Housing Ministry to suspend construction work for illegal renters. In addition, the committee asked the government to prioritize the development of many high-rise buildings in the area.
