The patient traveled to Peshawar and was directed to Khyber Teaching Hospital from a private clinic afterward. The medical team at the hospital took samples and sent them to the Public Health Reference Lab, which verified the presence of Mpox in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as stated in the press release Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health News.

The individual has been placed in home quarantine in Lower Dir, where he is being observed by the District Health Officer (DHO). His condition is improving, and his family has been guided on how to prevent the spread of the disease.

Meanwhile, KP Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah showed concern over the screening process at Islamabad Airport, where the patient’s Mpox virus was not caught.

In a video message about Mpox Cases in Pakistan, the minister said that more than 66,000 people have been screened at various entry points in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Of the 17 presumed Mpox cases, 5 have been confirmed, with the 5th case being final today.
