Food Security Ministry Suspends New Sugar Imports

Table of Contents

The Ministry of National Food Security has announced that Pakistan will no longer import sugar, citing sufficient domestic reserves.

Officials confirmed that the decision was made after a comprehensive review of the country’s sugar stocks, which showed no immediate need for additional imports. As a result, the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has been directed to halt new procurement.

Imports will now be restricted only to the 300,000 metric tons already contracted, for which orders have been placed.
