Pakistan’s white-ball team’s foreign coaching staff will join the squad directly in Sri Lanka ahead of the upcoming T20I series, sources confirmed on Tuesday.
According to insiders, the foreign coaching unit includes head coach Mike Hesson and bowling coach Ashley Noffke. The group also features fielding coach Shane McDermott, physiotherapist Cliffe Deacon, and strength and conditioning coach Grant Luden.
The foreign coaches had returned to their respective countries for annual leave over Christmas and New Year after the recently concluded tri-nation series. As a result, no training camp will be organised for the national T20 squad prior to the Sri Lanka tour.
Squad members are scheduled to travel from Pakistan to Sri Lanka on January 4 and 5. Players currently involved in franchise leagues have been given the option to link up with the team directly in Sri Lanka.
Sources said Shadab Khan, who has been named in the squad, is currently participating in the Big Bash League, while several other Pakistani players are featuring in the Bangladesh Premier League.
The first match of the three-match T20I series between the Pakistan national cricket team and the Sri Lanka national cricket team will be played on January 7.
