Pakistan on Sunday strongly rejected Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar’s “highly inflammatory, baseless and irresponsible” comments targeting the Pakistan Army, calling them part of New Delhi’s ongoing propaganda campaign.
Indian media reported that Jaishankar, in an interview with NDTV, claimed that many of India’s issues with Pakistan “emanated from the Pakistan Army” and accused the military of “ideological hostility” towards India.
Responding to the remarks, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said Pakistan remained a responsible state and that all national institutions, including the armed forces, were fully committed to protecting the country’s sovereignty.
“Pakistan is a responsible state and its institutions, including the armed forces, are a pillar of national security, dedicated to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country,” the FO statement said.
The spokesperson said the May 2025 conflict clearly demonstrated the Pakistan Army’s professionalism and resolve in responding to Indian aggression.
“The May 2025 conflict vividly demonstrated the professionalism and resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces to defend the motherland in a befitting, effective, yet responsible manner,” Andrabi stated. “No amount of propaganda can belie this truth.”
The FO said India’s attempts to malign Pakistan’s state institutions were meant to divert global attention from New Delhi’s destabilising regional actions and its involvement in state-sponsored terrorism inside Pakistan.
“Such incendiary rhetoric only exemplifies the extent of India’s disregard for amity, peace, and stability in the region,” the spokesperson added.
Andrabi further said that instead of making misleading statements about Pakistan’s armed forces, India should confront the rise of extremist Hindutva ideology, which has fuelled mob violence, arbitrary detentions, and the destruction of properties and places of worship across India.
“Indian state and leadership have become hostages of this terror in the name of religion,” he said.
Despite tensions, the spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan remained committed to co-existence, dialogue, and diplomacy, while staying fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and national interests.
