Former Pakistan fast bowler Ehsan Adil is set to face his former side at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, this time representing the United States cricket team.

The International Cricket Council Event Technical Committee has approved Adil as a replacement for Jasdeep Singh, who was ruled out after suffering a shoulder injury during a warm-up match against New Zealand on February 5.

Adil’s return to the global stage comes exactly 11 years after his last appearance for Pakistan at the ICC 2015 World Cup. Now 32, the pacer made his international debut at the age of 19 against South Africa and played his final match for Pakistan in the 2015 World Cup quarterfinal against Australia in Adelaide.

Since relocating to the United States, Adil has rebuilt his career through consistent performances in Major League Cricket. He adds significant experience to the USA squad, with 245 first-class wickets and a strong T20 record from his time in Pakistan’s domestic circuit.

The development sets up a compelling storyline ahead of the USA’s clash against Pakistan at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Adil also joins a growing group of Pakistani-origin players in the American lineup, adding extra intrigue to a fixture that already carries weight after Pakistan’s shock loss to the USA in 2024.
