RDA Shuts Down Illegal Housing Scheme Site Office in Adiala

RAWALPINDI: An RDA spokesman said that the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) carried out a decisive operation against an illegal housing society located in Mouza Adiala, Rawalpindi, which led to the sealing of its site office.

The enforcement division of the RDA has stepped up its efforts to stop the spread of unauthorised housing plans.

The owner of Al-Qaim Mansion had received notices prior to the operation in accordance with the terms of sections 39 and 12 (5) of the Punjab Development of Cities Act of 1976 and section 38 of the Punjab Development Authority Private Housing Schemes Rules of 2021.

The operation against the illegal housing scheme was carried out by the enforcement squad of the RDA in cooperation with local law enforcement from the relevant police station.

It was discovered that the property owner had been operating the housing scheme’s site office in violation of the law.

As a result, a FIR was filed at the Sadar Beroni police station against the proprietor of the illegal housing plan.

The Director-General (DG) of RDA strongly cautions the public against investing in unlicensed housing developments that have been deemed illegal by the authorities, the RDA spokesman emphasised.

Additionally, it was advised to investors to check the status of housing schemes on the RDA’s official website, www.rda.gop.pk.

The Metropolitan Planning & Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate has also been instructed by the DG of RDA to take strict action against illegal housing schemes, including the building of unlicensed development, booking, and site offices, as well as encroachments.

Additionally, RDA has asked PTCL, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines, and Islamabad Electric Supply Company for their help in order to stop providing services to these illegal housing developments.
