Freelancers in Pakistan Can Generate $10 Billion in Tech Exports
Dr. Umar Saif, Pakistan’s Acting Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, is spearheading a major initiative to increase the nation’s exports of technology-related services to foreign nations.
By assisting one million freelancers in earning approximately $30 per day, the aim is to generate $10 billion annually. In the upcoming two to three months, the government will extend assistance in the form of financial resources and shared workspaces.
In an effort to facilitate payment for labor, Pakistan is also in talks with PayPal. In the next eight months, they hope to begin utilizing 5G technology.

Currently, services sold to foreign nations generate approximately $2.5 billion in revenue for Pakistan’s technology sector annually.
The administration is working to increase this figure. Dr. Saif believes that obtaining capital and spaces for collaborative work in private enterprises are critical to the success of this ambitious project. Should it succeed, Pakistan’s economy stands to gain significantly.
