Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tourism department has released the yearly report on visitor arrivals in 2023. It revealed striking statistics and emphasized the province’s increasing allure for both domestic and foreign travelers.
The World Bank’s 1422 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Centers (KITE) Project oversaw the collection of all the data. In the period from January 1 to December 26, 2023, 16,988,946 visitors came to the province. Notable is the fact that 4,554 foreign visitors came to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the province’s increasing international appeal as a travel destination.

According to a Department of Tourism estimate, Galyat emerged as the primary draw in 2023, drawing over 6.34 million visitors for entertainment and sightseeing. Not to be outdone, the Naran Kaghan Valley and Malam Jabba welcomed 5.08 million and 3.54 million visitors, respectively.
In addition, 1,380,740 more visitors visited Upper and Lower Dir in an attempt to take in the area’s breathtaking scenery. Over the course of the year, 591,330 tourists visited Lower Chitral, while 38,771 visited Upper Chitral.
With 1,624 foreign visitors, Lower Chitral led the way among the countries with the most foreign visitors. Foreign tourists visited Upper Chitral 791 times, Dir (Upper and Lower) 417 times, Swat Valley 237 times, Malam Jabba 588 times, and Naran Kaghan Valley 897 times.
These striking figures demonstrate the diverse range of attractions that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa offers, as both domestic and foreign tourists continue to express a growing interest in discovering the province’s magnificent scenery and rich cultural legacy.
