Fixed monthly charges for domestic gas consumers could increase by as much as 3,900 percent.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet approved a summary of the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) regarding revision in natural gas prices, so domestic (residential) consumers will bear this burden.
Protected domestic consumers will see a 3,900% increase in fixed monthly charges from Rs. 10 to Rs. 400 under the approved revision in charges.

Two groups of domestic consumers who are not protected have been established. The fixed monthly charges of domestic non-protected consumers who use up to 1.5 (cubic hectometer) will increase by 117%, from Rs. 460 to Rs. 1,000.
The fixed monthly charges for domestic non-protected consumers who use more than 1.5 hm3 will increase by 334 percent, from Rs. 460 to Rs. 2,000.
