PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said his party has no intention of increasing political tensions and will not respond with retaliation.
Speaking to reporters after a parliamentary party meeting, he said PTI wants the political process to move forward peacefully and supports the continuation of democracy. He urged all sides to avoid actions that could create further confrontation.
Gohar said the current situation should not be worsened, adding that some groups are trying to provoke unrest and create instability in the country.
He alleged that a small group is working to create conflict between a major political party and an important national institution, which he said is harmful to national stability.
Opposition to Suspension of PTI Members
Talking about internal party matters, Gohar stated that no PTI lawmaker’s membership should be suspended, and that the party will stand firmly behind its members.
He also reaffirmed PTI’s respect for state institutions, saying that a strong army is essential for Pakistan’s defence.
He added that the PTI founder has asked for a meeting between Bushra Bibi and his family, calling it a basic human right.
Comments on Governor’s Rule in KP
Barrister Gohar rejected speculation about the imposition of Governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling it unnecessary and politically motivated.
He said such discussions appear to be signals from certain quarters that want the situation in the province to worsen.
He clearly stated that Governor’s rule will not be imposed in KP.
