A gold pocket watch recovered from an elderly couple aboard the ill-fated Titanic has fetched a record price at auction, selling for 3.61 million Australian dollars.
Auctioneers confirmed that the sale set a new high for any Titanic-related memorabilia. The previous record was set last year when another gold watch, presented to the Titanic’s captain who saved over 700 passengers, sold for 3.16 million Australian dollars.
