Google has expanded its AI-powered app-building tool, Opal, to 15 new countries after strong adoption in the United States. The platform allows users to build mini web apps simply by typing text prompts, making it accessible to both technical and nontechnical users.

The new rollout brings Opal to Canada, India, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brazil, Singapore, Colombia, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panamá, Honduras, Argentina, and Pakistan.

Megan Li, Senior Product Manager at Google Labs, said the company was surprised by the level of creativity shown by early adopters in the U.S. She explained that while Google expected users to build small and simple tools, many instead created advanced and practical applications. This response encouraged the company to expand the service globally.

Opal works by letting users describe the type of app they want in plain language. Google’s AI models then generate the app automatically. Users can edit workflows, inputs, and outputs through a visual editor, and also publish their apps online to share with others.

Along with the international rollout, Google announced upgrades to Opal’s debugging and performance features. The debugging system now highlights errors directly in context, making troubleshooting faster and simpler. Users can run workflows step by step and adjust actions without needing to write code.

Performance has also been improved, with app creation times cut down and support for parallel processing added. This means multiple steps can run at once, speeding up complex workflows.

Google first launched Opal in the U.S. in July, entering the competitive no-code design market alongside platforms like Canva, Figma, and Replit. The growing demand for no-code tools is being driven by creators, educators, and small businesses looking for quick and easy ways to design apps without advanced technical knowledge.
