The federal government of Pakistan has announced a fresh hike in petroleum prices, effective from June 16, bringing a notable rise in the cost of both petrol and high-speed diesel for the upcoming fortnight.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs4.80 per litre, setting the new rate at Rs258.43 per litre. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has seen a sharper increase of Rs7.95 per litre, taking it to Rs262.59 per litre.

This marks the second consecutive increase in fuel prices within a span of just over two weeks. On May 31, the government had raised petrol prices by Rs1 per litre, adjusting the cost to Rs253.63 at the time.

The revision comes amid global market fluctuations and the government’s ongoing efforts to manage fuel subsidies and economic pressures. The official notification confirms the implementation of the revised rates and signals the continuation of price adjustments based on international oil trends and domestic fiscal conditions.

With the latest increase, motorists and transporters are likely to face higher operating costs, further straining household budgets and commercial logistics across the country.
