ISLAMABAD: President for Tourism for Interfaith Peace and Development and President of Lakeshore Club, Syed Sadat Hussain Shah, has said that government attention and strong infrastructure are indispensable for the tourism industry. Despite Pakistan having immense tourism potential, the sector has not been able to develop in line with its true capacity due to the absence of effective policymaking and practical measures.
He stated that partnerships with the private sector should be encouraged for the promotion of adventure tourism, religious tourism, and the restoration of historical sites. He further demanded that access routes to the northern areas be improved, issues faced by the hotel industry be resolved, and information centers, modern guide services, and facilities of international standards be provided.
He added that if the government seriously undertakes reforms, Pakistan’s tourism sector can not only strengthen the economy but also create employment opportunities for millions of people.
