Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the government is still ready for negotiations, but Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is not willing to sit down for dialogue.

Speaking on Samaa TV’s programme Nadeem Malik Live, Khawaja Asif said that the doors for talks are open even today. However, he claimed that PTI continues to avoid dialogue. He added that only Mahmood Khan Achakzai and a few other political parties are currently calling for negotiations.

Earlier, the defence minister also responded on the social media platform X to a letter written by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi. In his message, Khawaja Asif alleged that the leadership of Afridi’s party, including the chief minister himself, is acting in a way that harms Pakistan’s unity.

He further claimed that party workers, with the support of their leadership, are using highly abusive language on social media. According to him, such behaviour shows disrespect towards constitutional offices and damages harmony between provinces.

Khawaja Asif called for shared responsibility and urged Suhail Afridi and other leaders to openly condemn such conduct. He said political leaders should work together to stop hate-filled language and help protect national unity and inter-provincial harmony.
