Government Set to Launch Free Liver Transplant Service
Within a month, people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will receive free liver transplants at three private hospitals in Pakistan as part of the Sehat Sahulat Programme.

Initiated in 2014 in four districts encompassing 3% of the population, the initiative was expanded to 51% and 69% of the population before being extended to the whole population of the province in November 2020.
In Malakand, Mardan, Kohat, and Chitral districts, Germany has offered a grant of 9.4 million Euros over two years to give free care to OPD visits.
Mr. Tanoli stated that Health Minister Taimur Salim Jhagra was in constant contact with State Life Insurance Corporation in order to initiate the free liver transplant program as soon as possible because there were patients with severely damaged livers who could not be treated with transplant surgery.

Mr. Tanoli stated that some people had permanent addresses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and temporary addresses in Punjab, but the government was attempting to make the free treatment program accessible to all inhabitants.
