On Thursday, it was reported that the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) and the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint framework for stricter monitoring of medicine prices, availability, and marketing.

Under the agreement, both institutions will share data and information to ensure effective supervision of the pharmaceutical market. The collaboration will cover policy research, capacity building, and joint surveillance of market behaviour.

The coordinated framework will regulate medicine pricing and availability, while joint actions will address misleading advertisements and online marketing of pharmaceutical products. CCP member Salman Amin emphasized that cooperation between the agencies is crucial to curb deceptive online marketing practices.

DRAP Chief Executive Dr Ubaidullah added that both organizations will take joint steps to guarantee the continuous availability of essential medicines for the public.
