Government to Merge Kamyab Jawan and Kamyab Pakistan Programmes
The Kamyab Pakistan Program (KPP) and the Kamyab Jawan Program will be combined by the federal government (KJP).
Miftah Ismail, the federal minister of finance and revenue, made a statement in this respect during a meeting of the steering group for the KPP on Tuesday at the Finance Division. The meeting was attended by the chairman of NAPHDA, Lt. Gen. Anwar Ali Hyder, the chairman of Akhuwat, Dr. Amjad Saqib, the president of BOP, Zafar Masood, the CEO of NRSP, Dr. Rashid Bajwa, the representative of SAPM Youth Affairs, the representative of NDMA, the member of NTC, the member of SBP, and other senior officers.
The government will combine the two programmes under a single window, according to the finance minister, which will be managed by the PM Office under the direction of the SAPM on Youth Affairs.
He said that the Kamyab Pakistan Program is helpful for a long-term decline in poverty and is in line with the goals of the current administration for the nation.
The Finance Division will provide full support for the programme and work to allocate more money under the combined initiative in order to address the nation’s present flood problem.
The programmes were started by the previous administration to promote a long-term decline in poverty by increasing employment possibilities and providing microloans to start-ups and small companies.
Federal Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail reportedly stated that the Prime Minister’s Office will be in charge of the group under the direction of the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs. Additionally, he stated that the Finance Division intended to assist this programme by providing more funding to Pakistan’s flood victims.
Kamyab Pakistan Project
On October 4, 2021, the Prime Minister introduced the Kamyab Pakistan Programme (KPP) to address the susceptibility of low-income households to income shocks. In order to stimulate the expansion of small businesses and farms, the government will offer subsidized, interest-free microloans to 3.7 million people over the course of five years under the KPP programme.
By developing skills, making health insurance essential for all borrowers, and giving families the chance to access affordable housing, the KPP strives to eliminate poverty and transition families towards sustainable lives.
Low levels of women’s participation in the economy have denied low-income households the chance to increase and diversify their sources of income, which can pave the way for long-term economic growth. As a result, low-income households are more vulnerable to the high costs of pollution (air and water) and income shocks associated with climate change.
The government of Pakistan’s flagship initiative, Kamyab Pakistan, intends to provide microloans to farmers, small-business owners, and entrepreneurs. PKR 1.6 trillion has been set aside by the government.
Let us dive into the details of the project:
- According to the proposal, those registered with the National Socio-Economic Registry via the Ehsaas Program will get PKR 50,000 every month (NSER).
- The payments will be made for three to five years.
- 3,000,000 families will profit from the project.
- The Kamyab Pakistan Project collaborates with a number of banks, DFIs, PMRC, and microfinance institutions and housing financing firms.
The Kamyab Pakistan Project is a stand-alone policy instrument that promotes the socioeconomic advancement of the populace. Other initiatives introduced under this programme will have an effect on various societal sectors.
Kamyab Jawan Project
The government is aiming to give chances to the nation’s youth as part of the Kamyab Jawan Program. Through a variety of activities, the organization seeks to provide kids with work prospects. This is a technical skills development initiative rather than a job generation one.
According to the information, 170,000 scholarships have been set aside for skill development, and an extra 50,000 scholarships will be given out for hi-tech capabilities, such as big data and artificial intelligence.
- Through a variety of programmes, including:
- Pakistan Startup Program
- Teenage Entrepreneurship Program
- Program Hunarmand Pakistan (Skills for All)
- Youth Participation Platform
- Youth Green Movement
- Program for National Internships
Kamyab Kissan Programme
Farmers with land holdings of up to 12.5 acres are eligible for agricultural loans under the Kamyab Kissan Program. To increase productivity, these microloans in the amount of up to PKR 150,000 (per crop) will be given out for the purchase of agricultural inputs. In addition, loans up to Rs 200 000 will be provided at no interest for machinery and equipment.
In addition to providing loans, the Kamyab Kissan Programme is a dynamic initiative that seeks to educate farmers in technical knowledge so that, in the face of limited resources, they can contribute more effectively to the agricultural industry.
This is due to the government’s efforts to restart operations in a number of sectors, including agriculture, as part of the Second Phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Imran Khan, the current prime minister, has frequently reminded the populace that agriculture is Pakistan’s main source of income and that, as such, its expansion is essential for revitalizing activity. The farmers will also receive Kisan Cards, and those who register will then receive financial incentives.
Kamyab Karobar
This is another program introduced by the government of Pakistan to facilitate the Pakistani citizens. Loans of up to PKR 500,000 would be provided via this initiative to entrepreneurs starting enterprises in the dairy, livestock, poultry, and fishing industries. The purpose of this is to encourage more companies to enter certain industries by offering loans with no markup.
The banks for borrowing money have been designated as the Bank of Alfalah and the Bank of Punjab.
