Hussain has officially written to the Ministry of Interior and requested an investigation.

PBF’s Letter to Government

On March 3, the Pakistan Business Forum (PBF) in France sent a letter to Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The letter highlights serious complaints from overseas Pakistanis.

52,000 Pakistanis Barred from Traveling

The letter claims that thousands of overseas Pakistanis, especially those from Italy, Greece, and Portugal, are being harassed at Pakistan airports.

Officials are allegedly blocking passports and demanding bribes between Rs. 400,000 to Rs. 500,000 per person.

The PBF states that while the government has blocked many passports, corrupt airport staff are taking advantage of the situation.

Expatriates returning to Pakistan are reportedly stopped and pressured to pay bribes. If they refuse, they may face travel delays or even entry denial.

A New Form of Harassment

“This is a new method of harassment,” the PBF letter states.

Overseas Pakistanis are being forced to pay bribes. This disrupts their travel and causes stress.

The letter also mentions that the overseas community was happy about the return of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights. But this new crisis has shaken their confidence.

The PBF has urged the government to take action, restore trust, and stop the exploitation.

Government Responds

In response, Chaudhry Salik Hussain has formally written to the Ministry of Interior, calling for an urgent investigation.

“This is a serious issue that must be resolved immediately,” he said.

Facilitation Desk for Overseas Pakistanis

The minister has also announced a facilitation desk at airports. This desk will help overseas Pakistanis and prevent further incidents.

He stressed that corrupt officials must be identified and punished.

“The harassment of expatriates will not be tolerated,” Hussain said. “We will protect their rights and ensure their concerns are addressed.
