Eidul Adha 2025 is expected to be celebrated across Pakistan on Saturday, June 7, as astronomers forecast the Zilhaj moon will likely be sighted on May 28.

According to prominent astronomer Dr. Faheem Hashmi, the moon marking the start of Zilhaj won’t be visible on May 27, since it will be just 11 hours old at sunset, making sighting nearly impossible. However, he noted that by May 28, the moon will be over 35 hours old, which significantly increases the chances of clear visibility across the country.

Based on these astronomical calculations, Zilhaj is expected to begin on May 29, with Eidul Adha falling on June 7, the 10th day of the Islamic month.

Moon Sighting to Be Confirmed by Ruet-e-Hilal Committee

While astronomers provide predictions, the final decision rests with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which will officially announce the beginning of Zilhaj after reviewing moon sighting reports from various regions of Pakistan.

Significance of Eidul Adha

Eidul Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the two major Islamic holidays. It honors Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. The festival is marked by special prayers, sacrificial rituals, and community gatherings across the Muslim world.
