Motorists in Pakistan are likely to face a hike in petrol prices as rates are expected to increase by approximately Rs. 4 to Rs. 4.50 per liter starting March 1, 2025. Meanwhile, diesel prices may see a slight decline due to fluctuations in global oil prices and exchange rates.

According to preliminary estimates, the ex-depot price of petrol will rise based on final calculations set to be completed by February 28. On the other hand, high-speed diesel (HSD) and kerosene prices are anticipated to drop marginally by less than Rs. 1 per liter.
The expected increase in petrol prices is attributed to a slight uptick in international oil prices and exchange rate losses against the US dollar. However, global Brent crude oil prices have remained relatively stable over the past ten days, providing some relief against a steeper price surge.
As of now, the ex-depot price of petrol stands at Rs. 256.13 per liter, while HSD is priced at Rs. 263.95 per liter. Kerosene, which has an official price of Rs. 171.65 per liter, is being sold in the open market at significantly higher rates, ranging between Rs. 300 and Rs. 350 per liter.
The final price adjustments will be officially announced by February 29, based on international oil trends and exchange rate movements.
