A new form of cyber warfare is emerging in the region, with thousands of attacks on GPS systems reported over the past 25 days.
These attacks involve techniques such as jamming and spoofing. Jamming disrupts GPS signals by blocking or weakening them, while spoofing sends false location data, causing aircraft and ships to move off their intended routes.
Similar activity was observed during recent tensions between Pakistan and India, and reports now indicate that such incidents are also occurring around Iran and other parts of the Middle East.
Aviation and maritime operators say that dozens of flights and vessels are being affected each day, increasing safety risks and causing disruptions to logistics and trade.
Experts warn that if these cyber threats are not controlled, they could seriously impact global navigation systems and lead to wider disruptions in international travel and commerce.
