A police checkpoint in Jaffarabad district of Balochistan was targeted in a grenade attack late Monday night, leaving one constable injured. According to officials, unknown suspects on a motorcycle threw a grenade at the Shahi Chowki police post and fled the area in the darkness.
Constable Mohammad Sajjad, who was on duty at the time, suffered injuries in the blast and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police teams arrived at the scene soon after the attack and began a search operation. Authorities said the area has been sealed off and all available resources are being used to locate and arrest the suspects involved.
In a separate incident earlier the same day, an explosion hit a railway track in the Rabi Canal area within the jurisdiction of Notal Police Station in Nasirabad. The blast occurred just minutes after the Jaffar Express passed through the track, avoiding what could have been a major tragedy. While no casualties were reported, the railway line sustained damage, and repair work has begun.
Police believe both incidents highlight ongoing security challenges in the region and have increased patrolling and surveillance to prevent further attacks.
