GSMA Innovation Fund Grants RS 146 Million to 3 Startups

In this regard, the GSMA Innovation Fund for Mobile Internet Adoption and Digital Inclusion has named 3 firms from Pakistan as recipients of a total grant of around GBP 668,000, out of 597 start-up applications submitted from 44 countries (Rs. 146 million). Vceela, Knowledge Platform, and Orenda Pakistan are among the winning startups.
At a formal event, Syed Amin Ul Haq, the federal minister of information technology and telecommunication, presented diplomas to the winners. According to him, Pakistan’s telecom reforms and the amenities offered to mobile carriers have made it possible for foreign investment in mobile networking.
Digital innovations are poised to alter how people live and work in Pakistan, according to Mr. Julian Gorman, Head of Asia Pacific, GSMA.
In fact, Pakistan was able to achieve one of the largest gains in its total score, according to our report’s digital society index.

He claimed that by 2023, the mobile industry in Pakistan is predicted to contribute $24 billion to the country’s economy, or 6.6 percent of GDP. Pakistan recently moved through with significant mobile services tax revisions in an effort to promote this growth.
