Pakistani actress Hania Aamir is reportedly being replaced in the upcoming Punjabi film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ after a wave of backlash stemming from the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir. The film, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa, is scheduled to release on June 27, 2025. According to reports, the decision to replace Hania comes despite the fact that her scenes for the film have already been completed, creating significant challenges for the production team.
Following the controversy, Hania Aamir issued a public condemnation of the attack in an attempt to defuse tensions. However, the reaction across social media platforms remained sharply divided. In Pakistan, a significant number of users expressed satisfaction over her reported removal from the project, accusing her of compromising national dignity in pursuit of a career in the Indian film industry.

Critics also pointed to Hania’s Bollywood-inspired Instagram reels as evidence of her shifting loyalties, calling her performances “out of place.” Some comments accused her of selectively using patriotism to safeguard her public image and career prospects. One user stated, “She deserved this behaviour after embarrassing the whole nation for Bollywood.”
The Sardaar Ji franchise, known for its dedicated fan base, is likely to feel the impact of such a major casting change. The controversy highlights the precarious position that cross-border artists often find themselves in, as they navigate cultural and political sensitivities while pursuing opportunities across borders.
