Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf reached a major career milestone with a standout performance against the Australia cricket team at the Adelaide Oval. The right-arm pacer became Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker after 39 One Day Internationals, marking a historic moment in his international career.
Haris Rauf delivered a brilliant five-wicket haul in the second ODI of the three-match series on Friday. With this performance, he took his total ODI wickets to 77, moving ahead of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Saqlain Mushtaq, both of whom had taken 76 wickets in their first 39 matches. This achievement places Haris at the top among Pakistan bowlers for wickets taken after the same number of games.

Since making his ODI debut on October 30, 2020, Haris Rauf has risen quickly in international cricket. Among fast bowlers from full member nations, he now holds the highest number of wickets in this period. Only Oman’s Bilal Khan has more wickets overall, with 83.
The match also saw a key milestone for Pakistan’s white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan equalled the record for the most catches by a wicket-keeper in a single ODI, taking six catches behind the stumps. With this effort, he joined a list of well-known names, including Adam Gilchrist, Mark Boucher, Quinton de Kock, Alec Stewart, Matt Prior, Matthew Cross, and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Rizwan came close to breaking the record outright when Australia’s Adam Zampa edged a ball in the 34th over, but the chance slipped through, denying him a seventh catch.
The strong performances by Haris Rauf and Mohammad Rizwan have lifted Pakistan’s confidence in the series and highlighted the impact both players continue to make in the national side.
