The federal government has rejected a fuel price notification circulating on social media, which claims that petrol prices have been reduced by Rs. 78 per litre and diesel by Rs. 100 per litre.
Officials say the notification is fake and have urged the public and media not to spread unverified information. According to sources, the revised fuel prices will be officially announced late Friday.
The government also clarified that it has not issued any recent press release بشأن petroleum prices.
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif cut petrol prices by Rs. 80 per litre, just a day after announcing a record increase.
Pakistan remains highly vulnerable to changes in global oil prices because it relies heavily on imports.
Authorities are advising citizens to depend only on official sources for accurate updates on fuel prices.
